What to Expect When Selling Your Business

4 min read

Selling a company you built is a significant decision. A clear, respectful process makes it far less daunting.

Selling a business is rarely just a financial transaction. It is the transition of something you built — with responsibility for employees, customers, and a reputation earned over years.

It starts with a conversation

The first step is a confidential, no-obligation conversation. We learn about the company, your objectives, and whether there is a basic fit. Nothing sensitive needs to change hands at this stage.

Preliminary review and proposal

If there is mutual interest, we review high-level financial and operating information and, when appropriate, outline a preliminary valuation and transaction framework.

Diligence and transition

Both parties examine the business, structure, risks, and financing in greater depth. We then design a transition plan for employees, customers, and knowledge — the part that truly determines whether an acquisition succeeds.

Confidentiality throughout

We treat acquisition conversations with care and can enter into an appropriate confidentiality agreement before receiving sensitive materials.
